Should I wax or not wax? If your boat still has a smooth finish with no cracks or deep scratches then towel drying it after every practice is a good habit to ensure it stays that way, then store it out of the sun.
If your boat is older, maybe a little dull and been beat up by hitting the dock a little harder then waxing will help. Wash the boat to remove any scum, apply a light coat of wax and store it out of the sun.
By the way – studies show that a freshly waxed boat doesn’t really give you an advantage (well, maybe a psychological one). It all boils down to your technique. So get on the water and practice… practice… practice.
